After Alabama's 29-22 comeback victory over South Carolina on Saturday, the Crimson Tide's star safety, Bray Hubbad, spoke to the media, sharing his thoughts on the team's performance and his efficient game, which saw him lead the team with eight tackles in tonight's win.

One of the first questions Hubbard was asked was what message head coach Kalen DeBoer gave to this unit which tonight was on the field for over 32 minutes of the game, in which Hubbard responded with "Coach DeBoer always says make them play another play, and that's what I said earlier, just keep fighting, and that's what we go by." Hubbard also mentioned that, during team meetings, they watched this legendary boxer's fights.

The Crimson Tide's sophomore defensive back said, "I mean, we show it all the time in our meetings and stuff, Muhammad Ali's fight, I mean, it's a 15-round heavyweight fight. It's what it's going to be every week in the SEC, so we've got to be prepared to just keep swinging."

Hubbard was asked about his thoughts on the improvement of the defense's maturity throughout the season. Since their season-opening loss to Florida State, this unit has dominated, currently ranking 25th in the nation and fourth in the SEC. They have held their opponents to 24 points or fewer in seven consecutive games. Hubbard attributed this growth in maturity to the team's trust in one another.

"It's just the trust we have between each other. You know we fight. We keep fighting, and that's just having faith in the brother around us." Hubbard added, "Whoever's next to me,  know he's going to do his job, and he knows I'm going to do my job. I mean, it's just the trust and everything we got with each other."

Hubbard had an outstanding game tonight, leading the team with eight tackles, while also recording two pass breakups. Another guy that was among the tackling leaders for tonight's win was Senior linebacker Deontae Lawson with seven tackles, who also came in clutch for the Crimson Tide, forcing a fumble in Gamecock's territory to give the ball back to the Tide with the score tied at 22 and less than two minutes remaining in the game. Hubbard went on to share that when that play happened, he didn't know the ball had been fumbled until he heard Lawson scream that it was out.

"I didn't even know the ball was out. Like I was around the pile and I actually heard Deontae [Lawson], he was like ball out ref, and the ref pointed and I was like oh well I guess he got the ball out, and then I had no idea, so I was asking the coaches and I was like is the ball out or what?" Hubbard said, "Credit to Dlaw man. TK [Tim Keenan] stood him up, then DLaw came in there and snatched the ball out."

When asked what the message was to the defense before they got back out on the field when the game was tied at 22 in the fourth quarter, Hubbard kept it short and straightforward, responding with "get a stop," which they did with Lawson's forced fumble, and a recovery by Keenan led to a Crimson Tide victory.

Alabama will rest this week, as it has a bye, but the Tide will be back in action on Saturday, November 8th, when it takes on LSU at home in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
