Tuscaloosa, Ala. - Alabama's loss to Auburn may have hindered the Crimson Tide beyond just the SEC standings. According to Alabama head coach Nate Oats, freshman Derrion Reid's lower-body injury became concerning after the loss.

Reid dealt with nagging injuries throughout SEC play, missing games against Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and LSU before returning for two games against Mississippi State and Georgia. Reid would miss Alabama's next two games against Arkansas and Texas before returning for one game against Auburn. Reid scored just four points in the nine-point loss to Auburn.

Now, Reid may miss more time for the Crimson Tide according to Alabama head coach Nate Oats.

"So Derrion had the hamstring deal, and it's one of those things where you don't want to bring him back too early. We thought we rested him long enough, but it kind of flared up again after [Auburn]," Oats said on Tuesday.

"He played limited minutes against Auburn, but he's been out of practice. We're checking, he's getting a second MRI, actually a third one in the last few weeks."

Oats said Reid would be listed as doubtful for Wednesday against Missouri.

"I think he'll be listed as doubtful based on not practicing yesterday and today. Hopefully, the MRI shows up clean, maybe all the swelling or the inflammation, whatever it is, hopefully, he can go."

"Derrion's one of our best positional size athletic defenders," Oats said. "He's done very good jobs on different guys when healthy. It would be great to have him, it's hard not getting the reps, and he's missed maybe 35, 36 percent of our practice reps this year."

The former five-star, McDonald's All-American is averaging 7.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game while shooting 43.6% from the field this season.

"He's got all the intangibles as far as tough, great attitude, high IQ, he's athletic," Oats said. "A lot of stuff the pros are looking for."
