Is Alabama’s Dynasty in Jeopardy? [Audio]
In less than three weeks, Alabama and Clemson will face off for the fourth time since 2008.
Alabama’s 34-10 victory over Clemson in 2008 helped to usher in one of college football’s most impressive runs in college football history.
Since that time, Nick Saban has brought home four national championships, five SEC titles and a 130-20 record in 11 seasons as the head coach of the Crimson Tide.
Seven weeks after Alabama’s demolition of Clemson in 2008, former Alabama wide receiver Dabo Swinney took the reins from Tommy Bowden as the interim head coach of the Tigers.
After becoming the permanent head coach in 2009, Swinney has built Clemson into a national contender including a national title and four ACC titles.
Coming into the Sugar Bowl, Alabama and Clemson are not only playing for an opportunity at another national championship game appearance, but possible supremacy atop the college football world.
During Monday’s edition of Tne Blitz, former Alabama fullback Martin Houston examined Alabama’s recent dynasty under Nick Saban and whether it is in danger of being overtaken by Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers.
The former Alabama fullback pointed to a number of areas where Clemson’s program matches up with Alabama including winning consistently, defeating college football’s elite top coaches including Urban Meyer, Jimbo Fisher, Bob Stoops and Nick Saban as well as Swinney’s youth compared to other coaches in the game.
The Blitz kicks off live and local coverage of Alabama sports every weekday from 6-7 AM on Tide 102.9/100.9 and the Tide 102.9 app.
