The University of Alabama is the only campus in the State of Alabama to be ranked among the top colleges and universities for quality of student life. The Capstone is ranked 10th nationally and first in Alabama according to the online survey site Niche Ranking of U.S. colleges.

Writing about UA, the survey said, "Year after year, the UA campus ranks among the very best in the nation. From tulips and cherry blossoms in the spring to cascades of golden leaves in the fall, you’re surrounded by dramatic intersections of classic architecture and modern advancement."

Southern Cal tops the national survey followed by Geogia, UCLA, Michigan and Vanderbilt. Florida State, Virginia, Penn State and Alabama round out the top ten.

Soon to be Southeastern Conference members Texas is just behind Bama at 11th, Florida is 13th, new SEC partner Oklahoma is 15th, Ole Miss is 20th, Auburn ranks 23rd, South Carolina 26th, Texas A&M 34th, Arkansas 64th, Mississippi State 76th, Kentucky 81st, Missouri 84th, LSU 122nd and Tennessee is 140th.

UAB ranks 111th nationally.

Among the criteria for the ratings are Overall aesthetics, student life (athletics, Greek life, party school), student acceptance rate, academics and net cost of attendance.

Alabama Criteria Rankings:

  • UA ranked 2nd in college athletics, behind Florida and ahead of Clemson. 
  • UA was also 2nd for Greek life, behind Florida State and just ahead of Ole Miss.
  • UA is the 4th best party school, behind Cal, Tulane and Florida State and ahead of Howard, Wisconsin and Georgia.
  • UA ranked nearly $6,000 higher than the national average cost of attendance at $21,263.00/yr.
  • UA received an A- on academics.
  • At $44,500.00, UA is $11,000+ dollars ahead of the national Median Earnings 6 Years After Graduation
