TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Alabama Crimson Tide roster is filled with newcomers to Tuscaloosa. Seven of the 11 different Alabama starters and ten of the 19 pitchers who appeared for the Tide made their Alabama debut opening weekend.

One of those new faces was Miami transfer Jason Torres.

Torres had an incredible first weekend in a Crimson Tide uniform, batting .500 with an OPS of 1.542, recording six hits, eight RBIs, and a home run while working four walks. The Hialeah, Fla. native., also provided versatility in the field, seeing time at first and third base, boasting a perfect fielding percentage at both spots.

Torres' best performance of the weekend came in the series finale on Sunday, where the junior recorded three hits in four at-bats, adding a team-high five RBIs, one home run, one triple, and one walk — nearly hitting for the cycle.

When asked about his stellar performance, especially in Sunday's abnormally cold Tuscaloosa weather, Torres referenced a viral quote from former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts, stating, "Like Jalen Hurts said, rain, sleet, or snow. Man, we're gonna go." Torres added, "Doesn't matter what weather we got."

Torres can potentially be one of the best hitters in the SEC, giving the Crimson Tide a dangerous bat in the four-hole as they look to earn a third-straight NCAA tournament appearance.

The Alabama Crimson Tide retake the field Tuesday and Wednesday against Middle Tennessee State and Alabama State, respectively, before traveling down to Jacksonville to participate in the Jacksonville College Baseball Classic for their first big test of the season.
