Former Mississippi State Starting Offensive Tackle Commits to Alabama
Alabama has made another addition to the offensive line via the transfer portal, with Hayes Fawcett of On3 reporting that former Mississippi State offensive tackle Jayvin James has committed to Alabama.

James, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound offensive tackle, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He has appeared in 26 career games with 21 starts in his career and spent his first two seasons of college football with Akron. During his 2023 season with the Zips, he played in three games and earned a redshirt. In 2024, he started nine games and appeared in all 12 for Akron.
In 2025, he started all 12 games he played in for Mississippi State, but missed the season opener at Southern Miss with an injury. He started nine of his 12 games last season at left tackle, playing a total of 856 snaps for the Bulldogs. He allowed three sacks and committed six penalties during the season.
He was originally a three-star prospect from Balnche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida, when he committed to play for Akron as a member of the Zips 2023 recruiting class.
James is the 18th transfer to commit to the Crimson Tide from the transfer portal, and is the sixth offensive lineman commitment for Alabama via the transfer portal.
