Jersey Updates for Alabama Basketball
The Alabama men's basketball roster was finalized when Mark Sears and Jarin Stevenson announced they would withdraw from the NBA draft and return to the Crimson Tide. Alabama already had a top-five team in the country thanks to its additions in the transfer portal, however, the Crimson Tide now have arguably the best team in the nation thanks to Sears returning.
Fans can begin to get excited about basketball season and support their favorite players, with the university officially announcing jersey numbers for the upcoming season. All of Alabama's newcomers now have their jery number, and some of Alabama's returning stars have changed their number from last season.
Alabama Basketball 2024 Jersy Numbers
0 - Labaron Philon
1 - Mark Sears
2 - Aden Holloway (Auburn transfer)
3 - Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Wore 12 last season)
4 - Grant Nelson (Wore 2 last season)

15 - Jarin Stevenson
22 - Aiden Sherrell (Freshman)

Why the number change for Wrightsell and Nelson? Wrightsell wore No. 3 at Cal State Fullerton. Grant Nelson also wore No. 4 when he played at North Dakota State University.
Additionally, the NCAA changed the rule stating that basketball players can not wear a number higher than five. This rule was previously in place to allow officials to have a simpler time when calling fouls. Previously, legal basketball jersey numbers were 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 00, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, and 55. However, that rule is no longer in place.
That explains how Mallette is able to wear No. 95.
