Former Alabama cornerback Josh Jobe is making some noise in Eagles training camp. Jobe earned first-team reps during Tuesdays practice after James Bradberry was seen going into the medical tent.

Darius Slay and Bradberry will start for the Eagles at corner, but Jobe is making a serious push to make the 53-man roster after going undrafted in April. According to multiple reports, Jobe has been impressive in practice up to this point.

The Miami, Fla. native saw action in 51 games in four seasons at Alabama. He was a starter on Alabama’s 2020 national championship team, registering 55 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, two sacks and 11 pass breakups.

Last season, Jobe battled a number of injuries that began in September and his play suffered because of it. He ultimately underwent season-ending surgery on his foot in December and missed the College Football Playoff. Jobe admitted during the pre-draft process that his injuries affected him a great deal during his senior campaign.

“It affected me a lot,” Jobe said. “I had to change my technique, but I had to deal with it. I’m a physical corner. I’m a good man-to-man corner. I couldn’t do what I had to do. I had to play soft.”

Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon plays a heavy zone-based defensive scheme that tailors more to Jobe's strengths. His biggest impact in his rookie season, barring any injuries will probably come on special teams, something that he played a great deal during his time in Tuscaloosa.

Philadelphia will play their second preseason game on Sunday, Aug. 21 against the Cleveland Browns.
