Justin Thomas Announced as a Player in “The Match”
The next matchup of Capital One’s “The Match” will be played on Dec. 10, with some of the world’s most accomplished golfers participating. This time it will be without the usual celebrity additions.
Alabama alumnus Justin Thomas is ranked as the eight best golfer in the world by the PGA Tour website. He will team up with Jordan Spieth to face off against Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
The exhibition will be “under the lights” due to its late starting time with coverage starting at 5 p.m. CT on TNT. The event will only be 12 holes. "The Match" will be played at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
This installment of the event will benefit Hurricane Ian relief efforts, after the storm devastated portions of Florida in late September.
This is Thomas’s first appearance in the popular charity event, along with the first for McIlroy and Spieth. This is the third time Woods will be participating, holding a 1-1 record in the event.
Past editions of “The Match” have included some of the biggest names in other major sports, like football stars Tom Brady and Peyton Manning and basketball stars Stephen Curry and Charles Barkley. This edition will feature stars from golf alone, the first time since the first edition of “The Match”, which featured Woods and Phil Mickelson.
