TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - In 2023, Alabama brought in a five-star freshman offensive tackle named Kadyn Proctor. There was a lot of hype around his commitment to the Crimson Tide, and since setting foot on campus for the first time, Proctor has started 28 games at left tackle for the Crimson Tide, starting all 14 games for Alabama in 2023, 11 games for Alabama in 2024, and the first three games of the season in 2025.

Proctor took his lumps as a young player, but has now solidified himself as the permanent blindside blocker for Jalen Milroe in 2023 and 2024, and for Ty Simpson in 2025.

During the 2025 recruiting cycle, Alabama brought in another highly-touted five-star offensive lineman - Michael Carroll. Carroll has yet to make his first start for Alabama, but has appeared in the Tide's last two games at right tackle against ULM and Wisconsin. Against the Warhawks, Carroll played 30 snaps and did not allow a sack on the Crimson Tide's quarterbacks.

It's a similar situation to what Proctor faced, trying to work up the depth chart as a true freshman. Kadyn Proctor said on Thursday that Carroll displays "physicality" when he steps onto the field.

"Physicality. He's came out and had that intensity. He's been trying to wreck up shop," Proctor said. "Even on walk-throughs, he's just got that intensity. That's just the guy that he is, and that's some of the guys we need to have on the offensive line, no doubt."

Proctor had plenty of learning moments as a true freshman in 2023. What are some of the things he learned in that season that he's tried to impart on Carroll as he goes through his freshman year?

"Not letting a bad play hinder your future plays," Proctor shared. "That's really the biggest thing. If your mind goes to that one bad play - I mean - we got 30 more plays to go. In a practice, or in a game, you can't - it's not something you can think about, or it will ruin the rest of the game for you.

Proctor said he sees a little bit of himself in Carroll.

"Just a hungry young kid. He hates being with the twos, as anybody would, and I know that's how I was too. And I see he's trying to do the things to change that and never be on the twos. And Wilkin's doing the same thing, and anybody that plays right tackle. It sucks being on the twos, but you gotta treat it as a normal practice and do your job."

Alabama will face Georgia on Sept. 27 in Athens.
