Kalen DeBoer Speaks Following Loss To Oklahoma
Norman, OK - The Oklahoma Sooners prove to be a problem for the Alabama Crimson Tide as they send Alabama back to Tuscaloosa with their third loss of the season. Oklahoma is an unranked team sitting at 6-5 with this win while the No. 7 ranked Crimson Tide dropped to 8-3 in the regular season.
Kalen DeBoer had this to say following the 24-3 Alabama loss in Norman, Oklahoma.
“We got to play better, be better in all ways. Some simple things, uncharacteristic things that I think happened early in the game, when we didn’t get the momentum on our side.” Deboer continued his opening statement with, “It really comes down to them scoring that touchdown at the end of the first half and the turnovers really changed the momentum over the game.”
DeBoer gave credit to the Oklahoma Sooners for their run game adding, “There’s some things that we continue to tweak and adjust to do a better job against it and what they were doing there, but obviously the game got away from us during the third quarter.”
Deontae Lawson came out of the game and some changes were made to the defensive depth chart to help Alabama keep this Oklahoma run game at bay. DeBoer spoke on the changes saying, “Anytime you lose a great player like Deontae it’s going to affect you, his leadership, he’s the guy that makes most the calls on the football field and it seems like he’s always in control.”
There are always questions about how Coach DeBoer will rally his team following a big loss such as tonight, but DeBoer made a statement by saying, “It’s a big game next week, so we got to regroup and stick together. The right things are said in there by the guys as much as they are hurting.”
Despite some ups and downs during this season, DeBoer likes to reiterate, “We have to finish the job” as he has stated in multiple press conferences.
The Alabama Crimson Tide play the Auburn Tigers next week in Bryant Denny Stadium for the 2024 Iron Bowl matchup. There are many questions about Alabama’s postseason chances with this SEC loss to Oklahoma.
