Kalen DeBoer Updates Health of Tight Room in Fall Camp

During spring practice, Alabama's tight end room was decimated by injuries. Danny Lewis Jr. did not participate in spring practice, with Josh Cuevas and Marshall Pritchett getting injured during spring practice and missing the final week of practice. Alabama was so thin at tight end that offensive lineman William Sanders began taking reps at tight end just so Alabama had bodies in that room.

During A-Day, Josh Cuevas was spotted on a scooter, and Marshall Pritchett wore a knee brace. However, during the media viewing portion of practice on Wednesday, all Alabama tight ends were present wearing their normal jerseys.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer was asked about the health of his tight end room after Alabama started fall practice on Wednesday, and DeBoer was optimistic about the health of that room after seeing it thinned out in spring.

"It will continue to get better and better. It's in a good spot. This was going to be how it was when the injuries happened. Cuevas is going to continue to add volume. I think that's the best word to use because he's practicing. Danny Lewis, same thing. They're adding volume, the number of reps from start to finish. It's not just team. It's not just individual. But they've had a really good summer, and their progress is how we had hoped.

"The rest of the guys, Marshall, I know, didn't practice at the end of the spring with what he had. Couple other guys too that are all full go. We've got more tight ends out there now, all of a sudden, than we could've ever imagined, but they're all competing and working together and doing a good job."

Alabama's transfer tight ends were spotted on Wednesday as well, with Brody Dalton and Jack Sammarco getting work with the group.
