Kalen DeBoer – We’re Not Playing Team Football
Not your ideal outcome for Crimson Tide fans as number seven-ranked Alabama falls to number 11-ranked Tennessee in a hard-fought contest.
This will be Alabama's second loss of the season with both losses coming from two SEC teams from Tennessee.
Alabama's defense stepped up this game compared to the last two games. Absolutely shutting down the run game as much as possible. Malachi Moore and Jalen Mbakwe showed up on defense, each with an interception to stop Tennessee’s offense from scoring.
Defensive back, Bray Hubbard leads the defense in tackles this game with five tackles and 4 assisted tackles.

Alabama was not as put together this week offensively with Jalen Milroe struggling to connect with
his receivers this game. With a 25/45 catch/attempt on 239 yards, Milroe completed just half of his passes.
Freshman receiver Ryan Williams led the offense this game with 8 receptions for 73 yards and 1 touchdown. Williams was targeted a total of 20 times this game, averaging 9.1 yards a catch.
The game ended with a score of Alabama 17 and Tennessee 24.
In a short press conference after the game, Deboer stated, “We need to have that killer instinct, and right now we don’t do that. He continued, “It’s not like they’re not trying, it’s just the execution needs to be better.” Execution is an essential part of organized sports and the Crimson Tide struggled a lot at times.
Coach Deboer was asked about Ryan Williams being targeted 20 times this game and if there was any worry that maybe he was targeted too much. Coach Deboer gave a very laid back answer. “No, I don’t think so…unfortunately we just had a couple misses.” He also added “you have to have confidence in your players to continue to go back and make the next play.”
Another reporter asked Deboer what the message was to the Fan base after this loss. “There’s a lot of season left, not just for us but for everyone and it’s going to go by fast if we don’t take advantage of it.”
More football is to be played this season as Alabama takes on Missouri at home next week.
