When you hold the standard that the Alabama Crimson Tide holds, and your team currently sits at 9-2 and controls its own destiny for the College Football Playoffs, your coaching staff will often be linked to other job openings across the country.

Penn State reportedly is looking at Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, but sources indicate it would be surprising if DeBoer left the Crimson Tide after his second season in Tuscaloosa. High-level reports have also said they do not expect DeBoer to be involved in the Penn State coaching search.

DeBoer isn't the only one getting looks for other job openings across the country, with Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack being linked to the head coaching vacancy at Arkansas, but the Tide's defensive coordinator won't comment on job openings he's being linked to.

"I appreciate the question, but you know, I'm just not going to address any job opportunity stuff," Wommack said during his weekly press conference on Monday.

Wommack has no prior coaching experience at Arkansas, but did spend two seasons in Fayetteville as a player in 2005 and 2006.

Wommack is in his second season as the Crimson Tide's defensive coordinator after fielding a top-ten defense in Tuscaloosa last season. Alabama's defense is currently ranked No. 10 again in total defense and scoring defense in 2025, despite a 31-point performance by Florida State in week one. Week one is the most points Alabama has allowed this season, with 24 points allowed to Missouri being the second-highest Alabama has allowed. The Crimson Tide's defense has allowed, on average, 16.18 points per game this season.
