Keelon Russell Named Maxwell National Player of the Year
According to a press release by the Maxwell Football Club, Alabama quarterback signee Keelon Russell was named the Maxwell National High School Player of the Year.
Russell is the 18th player to win the award, joining two former Crimson Tide stars as award winners. Derrick Henry won the award in 2012 and Bryce Young did in 2019. He also joins the ranks of players such as Trevor Lawrence and Jeremiah Smith.
Russell, a five-star athlete, is ranked as the No. 2 player in the country according to composite, and is the highest-ranked quarterback to sign with Alabama since Bryce Young.
Standing at 6-foot-4, 181 pounds, Russell completed 74% of his passes for 3,267 yards and 35 touchdowns with just three interceptions in 2023. He also led Duncanville High School to a 6A UIL state championship win. In 2024, he rose to a new level, completing 70% of his passes for 4,177 yards and 55 touchdowns to just five interceptions while leading Duncalville to a 13-1 record. Duncanville fell to North Crowley in the Texas state semifinals.

We are excited to name this outstanding young man as the Maxwell Football Club National High School Player of the Year.”
Russell will be awarded the award on March 14, 2025, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
