Simon, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker from Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, originally committed to the Crimson Tide over the Volunteers when he announced his commitment on May 11. He's ranked as the No. 139 overall player, the No. 10 linebacker, and the No. 6 player in Tennessee, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Simon is a Tennessee legacy, with his father, Kevin Simon, playing for the Volunteers from 2001 to 2005, where he was named a two-time All-SEC linebacker. The Washington Redskins (now called the Commanders) drafted him in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL draft.

Simon's only official visit this cycle was to Alabama on the first weekend of official visits on May 29. He last visited Tennessee on September 20, 2025, on an unofficial visit.

Alabama now has eight commitments in the 2027 recruiting class after Simon's decommitment:

Five-Star QB Elijah Haven
Four-Star QB Trent Seaborn
Three-Star RB Nigel Newkirk
Three-Star RB Tai Phillips
Three-Star DL Avrian Pauley
Three-Star TE Michael Nnabuife
Three-Star TE Oakley Keegan
Kicker Luke Cody
