Labaron Philon Earns Third SEC Freshman of the Week Honors
The Crimson Tide's true freshman superstar Labaron Philon continues his impressive first season in Tuscaloosa, being named SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season as Alabama began SEC play with a dominant 107-79 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners.
Philon is the only player this season to be named SEC Freshman of the Week three times.
Starting both of the Crimson Tide's victories on December 29 and January 4, Philon scored 21 points on 8-14 shooting in Alabama's 105-82 victory over South Dakota State on Sunday, December 29. On January 4 against Oklahoma, Philon started and scored 16 points on 5-10 shooting.
Philon, a 6-foot-4, 177-pound guard from Mobile, Alabama, has skyrocketed on NBA draft boards. Sports Illustrated ranks Philon as the No. 23 overall prospect in the 2025 NBA draft.
Alabama will continue SEC play this week, taking on South Carolina on Wednesday, January 8 at 6:00 p.m. CT, and Texas A&M on Saturday, January 11 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
