LT Overton’s Mindset Going into 2025: “Kill Everything”
Tuscaloosa, Ala. - LT Overton was a key addition via the transfer portal to Alabama in 2024. Overton (6-foot-5, 280 pounds) led the Crimson Tide in pressures in 2024 with nine quarterback hits. Despite leading Alabama in pressures and hits, Overton was tied for fourth on the Crimson Tide with two sacks in 2024.

The senior leader is returning to Alabama for the 2025 football season, hoping to increase his numbers from a promising 2024 season. With a strong 2025 season, Overton hopes to solidify himself as a top draft pick.
"It was really my very own decision [to return to Alabama]. I felt like I left a lot on the table last year, especially sack-wise," Overton said. "Pressures are cool and all, but you know what the guys really want to see is who's really making that production."
The top three 2025 NFL draft prospects from the edge position are Abdul Carter (Penn State), James Pearce Jr. (Tennessee), and Mike Green (Marshall). Each player in their top season had 9.5 sacks or more, indicating sack production is a key number in the eyes of the NFL.
While Overton does not have a specific number in mind, he does have a baseline goal for the 2025 season.
"Double digits. Anything over double digits for real. That's my goal," Overton said.
The last Alabama player to reach this goal was Dallas Turner in 2023 with 10 sacks. He was then drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
The goals reflect the words of defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, who wants Alabama to take the next step forward after an already-successful 2024 campaign.
"Really I just wanna kill everything, man," Overton said. "I felt like I've proven a lot last year, but I ain't show enough. My mindset this year is making sure I go out and prove to everybody what I can really do."
