Milroe Named to Maxwell Award Watchlist
Alabama's signal caller is beginning to be highlighted for national awards for the upcoming season.
Jalen Milroe has been named to the Maxwell Award Watchlist for the 2024 college football season.
The Maxwell Award is awarded annually to the best player in college football as voted on by the media.
Other notable players on the Maxwell Watchlist include Georgia Quarterback Carson Beck, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon, and Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden.
Alabama players to win the award in the past include Bryce Young, DeVonta Smith, Tua Tagovailoa, Derrick Henry, and A.J. McCarron.
Milroe is the highest-returning player from the 2023 season that received a Heisman vote. He placed sixth in the Heisman Trophy race last season.
In 2023, Milroe completed 65.8% of his passes for 2,834 yards and a 23-6 TD/INT ratio. Milroe also rushed for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
Alabama opens Fall Camp on July 31, and players will report on July 30.
Alabama opens its 2024 season on Aug. 31 at home against Western Kentucky. The Crimson Tide will play its first season without former head coach Nick Saban since 2007.
