The Battle for Highway 82, also known as the 90-Mile Drive, has been renewed by the SEC with new scheduling models in the SEC, with Alabama and Mississippi State playing for the first time since 2023, when the Tide defeated the Bulldogs 40-17 behind three rushing touchdowns on offense and three interceptions on defense.

The Bulldogs' players were asked if there was any game they're amped up for this season, with veteran cornerback Kelley Jones and wide receiver Anthony Evans III both circling the first matchup with the Crimson Tide in 3 seasons.

"Alabama. That's something - you know I've never beat them, so that's something I look forward to. I need to get my getback," Evans said.

Evans played at Georgia in 2023 and 2024 and was a member of the 2023 SEC championship game when Alabama defeated Georgia, knocking the Bulldogs out of the College Football Playoff. He was also on Georgia's roster in 2024, when the Tide defeated the Bulldogs 41-34 behind a monstrous first half by Jalen Milroe and Alabama's offense.

"It's a surreal feeling, growing up a Mississippi State fan, playing Alabama in Davis-Wade this year," star cornerback Kelley Jones said. "Mississippi hasn't beaten Alabama in high school in like, six years. It's gonna be something to look forward to, giving our fans something to be excited about, especially playing that great team in Davis-Wade."

Alabama is 88-17-3 all-time against Mississippi State, and the Tide is on a 16-game win streak over the Bulldogs, with Mississippi State's most recent win coming in 2007 in a 17-12 victory in Starkville. Since then, Alabama has won eight straight games in Starkville by an average of 23 points.
