On Tuesday, Houston and Huber were joined by Missouri associate AD of communications Chad Moller, who said that Mizzou's out to prove that the first year in the SEC was the fluke year, not last year.

In the school's first year in the SEC, the Tigers went 5-7 and missed a bowl game, while last year they went 12-2 with an SEC East division title and a victory in the Cotton Bowl.

"We're certainly not going to surprise anyone anymore" Moller told hosts Martin Houston and Baron Huber. "The target's on our back a little bit after what we were able to do last year. The guys are keeping that in mind as they prepare to prove that last year was the standard and the previous year was the one that was the fluke."

Missouri will have to do that after enduring a rough offseason which saw the Tigers lose quarterback James Franklin, running back Henry Josey and receivers L'Damian Washington and Dorial Green-Beckham on offense. Defensively, Mizzou lost Co-SEC Defensive Player of the Year Michael Sam, first-round draft pick Kony Ealy and all-SEC cornerback EJ Gaines.

One bright spot is quarterback Maty Mauk, who replaced Franklin when he was injured against Georgia and posted a 3-1 record in his absence. Mauk will lead the offense with several new starters at key positions.

Expectations are high after the success Mizzou had last year. A lot of it will depend on the production from Mauk, but expect Mizzou to come out with a great intensity and with even more to prove than last year.
