MIAMI (AP) — Kawhi Leonard scored 20 points and the San Antonio Spurs dominated the first half to beat the Miami Heat 107-86 and take a three-games-to-one lead in the NBA Finals. The Spurs held the Heat to 35 percent shooting in the first half while taking a 55-36 lead. LeBron James was the only Heat player to finish with more than 12 points, scoring a game-high 28 and grabbing eight rebounds.

PINEHURST, N.C. (AP) — Martin Kaymer has shot a 5-under 65 to take a three-shot lead after the opening round of the U.S. Open. The German birdied three of the last five holes at Pinehurst No. 2 and finished with the lowest round ever posted for the three Opens played at the course. Kevin Na, Graeme McDowell, Fran Quinn and Brendon DeJonge share second.

SAO PAULO (AP) — The World Cup is underway in Brazil, where the host country opened the competition with a 3-1 win over Croatia. The Brazilians fell behind 1-0 on an own goal in the 11th minute before Neymar scored twice, the second coming on a penalty shot in the 71st minute. Croatia had a goal disallowed in the 83rd minute after the referee ruled Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar had been fouled.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed center Maurkice Pouncey to a five-year extension that will keep the three-time Pro Bowler as the anchor of the team's offensive line the rest of the decade. The new deal averages $8.8 million per season, making Pouncey the highest-paid center in the NFL.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Alfredo Simon is the National League's second nine-game winner of the season after allowing one run on seven singles in eight innings of the Reds' 4-1 victory over the Dodgers. Todd Frazier hit a first inning, two-run homer off Zack Greinke, who fell to 8-3.
