Upchurch's efforts on Saturday earned him the first SEC weekly award of his career after the Southeastern Conference named him SEC Freshman of the Week, with a career-high 7.0 innings against the Rebels in the 6-2 victory.

Upchurch played a key role in Alabama's series victory, allowing just two earned runs over 7.0 innings on Saturday against the Rebels. He allowed just four hits and two walks to go along with his six strikeouts across 21 outs on Saturday. After giving up two runs in the third inning to Ole Miss, Upchurch retired 12 of the next 15 hitters he faced over 4.0 shutout innings. His start on Saturday was the 14th of his career, ending the regular season as one of four Power Four pitchers to complete all 14 available weekend starts.

Puchurch's distinction is the first of his collegiate career and is the third that Alabama baseball has earned this season. The regular season concluded with Alabama finishing fourth in the standings, earning the Crimson Tide a double-bye in this week's SEC baseball tournament in Hoover, Alabama. The Crimson Tide's first game will come on Thursday, May 21.
