Alabama men's basketball head coach Nate Oats will be among several high-profile college basketball head coaches who will have a busy summer this year. Oats, along with five other head coaches in college basketball, will help coach Team USA's 19 roster as they prepare for the 2025 FIBA World Cup, being held in Switzerland this year.

Joining Nate Oats is Tommy Lloyd, the head coach of Arizona men's basketball since 2021; Grant McCasland, the head coach at Texas Tech since 2023; Micah Shrewsberry, the head coach at Notre Dame since 2023; Hubert Davis, the head coach at North Carolina since 2021; and Mark Pope, the head coach of Kentucky basketball since 2024.

Oats, Pope, and McCasland all have over 200 career wins as head coaches in college basketball. Lloyd and Davis have over 100 coaching wins, and Shrewsberry has 65 wins as a head coach in college basketball.

The U19 coaches are also on a job hunt during the training sessions. If they coach well enough, they could potentially become the full-time coaches of the U19 team or get called up to Team USA in the Olympics every four years. For college coaches as well, it can be a recruiting tool, as several of the top prospects in high school will compete with the U19 team this summer.
