Nate Oats Provides Alabama Basketball Injury Update
Alabama Men's Basketball is preparing for one of the most anticipated seasons in program history, but they're already dealing with a small bite from the injury bug at the start of Fall practice before the season starts on November 4.
Nate Oats spoke with the media on Thursday, providing an injury update on three of Alabama's newcomers this season.
On Chris Youngblood
Oats said Youngblood had offseason ankle surgery and is working back. Youngblood was spotted in a boot and using a scooter on Thursday during an open media portion of Alabama's practice. Oats said the hope is that Youngblood will be 100% by the start of conference play on January 4, when Alabama hosts Oklahoma.
On Derrion Reid
Reid suffered a hand injury at some point over the offseason, with Oats considering him "week-to-week." However, he is expected to return to practice and the lineup by the time Alabama scrimmages against Wake Forest on October 18.
On Naas Cunningham
Cunningham recently suffered a groin injury. Out of an abundance of caution, Oats considers him "day-to-day."
Alabama Men's Basketball will open its season at home on November 4 against UNC Asheville in Coleman Coliseum. You can listen to all Alabama Basketball content on Tide 100.9 and the free Tide 100.9 app.
