Nate Oats Receives Massive Contract Extension
While progress may have slowed on the construction of a new stadium for the Alabama men's basketball program, the University demonstrated Thursday that it is in no way shying away from investing in its fastest-growing sport.

Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats became set to receive a huge contract extension Thursday at a meeting of the University of Alabama Board of Trustees in Birmingham, Ala. The deal would lock Oats in through the 2028-2029 season and pay him more than $4 million annually, per Jon Rothstein.
Nate Oats has taken the Tide to heights not seen in a long time, arguably ever. Alabama currently sits at 19-3 and is uncontested for first place in the SEC. The team is undefeated in conference play.
While the official numbers are yet to be released, a deal worth over $4 million per year would make Oats one of the ten highest paid coaches in college basketball.
A vote will take place at an additional meeting Friday to finalize the contract.
Since being hired four years ago, Oats has led the Tide to an 80-39 combined record, two NCAA tournament appearances, and has swept the SEC Championship. He has also produced two lottery picks and will likely add a third this off-season when Brandon Miller is drafted.
