The Crimson Tide's big man is a vital part of the Alabama offense, and his absence was notable in the Crimson Tide's blowout loss to the Gators.

On Monday, Nelson saw a knee specialist, who gave Nelson and head coach Nate Oats a positive update on the senior's knee injury on Monday.

Nate Oats took to the radio airwaves on Monday night's edition of "Hey Coach", where he was asked about Nelson's status leading into the NCAA tournament.

"Not sure he’ll be ready by Friday. We’re hoping at a minimum he’d be ready by Sunday with the possibility of maybe Friday," Oats said. "We dodged one, it wasn't anything too serious with his knee but for sure will be questionable for Friday."

Nelson averages 25.8 minutes per game for the Crimson Tide this season, scoring 11.8 points per game. Nelson is also the Tide's leading rebounder with 7.6 per game and also contributes 1.6 assists per game. He is shooting 52.8 percent from the field and 27.4 percent from three.

Alabama and Robert Morris will tip off at 11:40 a.m. CT on Friday, March 21.
