Nebraska has fired head coach Bo Pelini after seven seasons leading the Cornhuskers' football program.

Pelini produced a solid 66-27 as head coach, and his team never won fewer than nine wins. On the other side of that, Nebraska never won a conference championship during his tenure and never played in a BCS bowl game.

Pelini was in hot water a year ago when an audio recording caught him cussing his fans following a comeback win over Ohio State. At the same time, the head coach responded to criticism from former Nebraska great Tommie Frazier by saying the program 'didn't need' him.

The Cornhuskers finished tied for 2nd in the Big Ten West Division this year with a 9-3 overall record.
