New Reports Indicate Alabama Did Not Contact Beck
An earlier report by Matt Hayes indicated a bombshell in college football, with Georgia quarterback Carson Beck reportedly being contacted by Alabama after entering the transfer portal. In addition, Hayes reported Georgia tried to get Beck to return to Georgia as well.

New reports indicate Hayes was incorrect in reporting Alabama's contact with Beck and Georgia's desire to have Beck return.
Andrew Bone of On3 Sports and Bama OnLine (On3's Alabama affiliation) shot down the rumor on the On3 Message Boards.
"Sources have told BOL that UA did not contact or have interest in Carson Beck, despite the report from Matt Hayes," Bone wrote. "Rusty Mansell from the UGA site also posted this morning regarding Georgia's level of interest in keeping him, which was also reported in the story."
Rusty Mansell wrote on Georgia's website, "Obviously not going to get into a ton of it but I heard from somebody close to Beck Circle this morning," Mansell wrote. "They're not happy about this story at all."
"But like I said from the start," Mansell said, "I think both parties kind of moved on. Especially after he declared for the draft."
Less than 24 hours after entering the transfer portal, Beck committed to play for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes in 2025. Miami recently saw significant improvement in 2024 with another transfer portal quarterback, Cam Ward. Ward finished the 2024 season with 4,313 passing yards and 39 touchdowns to seven interceptions. Ward also added 204 yards and four touchdowns rushing.
Coming out of high school, Carson Beck was rated as a four-star prospect from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Beck committed and signed with the Georgia Bulldogs as a member of the 2020 recruiting class.
In 2024, Beck returned for his second season as the starting quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs. In 2023, Beck led Georgia to a 13-1 overall record, with the only loss coming to Alabama in the SEC Championship. Beck threw for 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns to just six interceptions in 2023, while adding 116 yards and four touchdowns rushing. Beck came into 2024 as the projected top player in college football.
He did not quite live up to the expectation in 2024, passing for 3,485 yards and 28 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. Beck had 71 yards and one touchdown rushing in 2024 before suffering an injury in his throwing arm during the SEC Championship game against Texas. Beck did not play in Georgia's Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals.
