Nick Saban Has Been Nominated for an On-Air Emmy
After retiring on Jan.10, 2024, many wondered what would the legendary coach Nick Saban do after retiring. Would he finally enjoy his free time? Become a mentor? Maybe an athletic director? None of those were what Saban decided to do; instead, he joined ESPN'S College GameDay as a college football analyst.

Since joining the College GameDay crew, he has offered great insight about the game of football and even brought with him a personality that many may have not seen in him as a coach. With just a year under his belt, Saban has been nominated for an Emmy in the category of "Outstanding Personality/ Emerging On-Air Talent," according to Nick Kosko of On3.
Among the group of nominees are former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, with ESPN; former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, with Prime Video; former cornerback Richard Sherman with Prime Video as well; and former Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright, with CBS/TNT.
“This year’s Sports Emmy nominees have once again raised the bar in sports television, blending innovation and passion to deliver unforgettable moments,” said Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS. “From their groundbreaking technical achievements to their excellence in the timeless art of live sports drama and documentary storytelling, we look forward to honoring these extraordinary professionals’ contributions at the 46th Annual Sports Emmy Awards.”
Being nominated for this prestigious award credits the hard work Saban has put into his newfound career. With his character, funny moments, and knowledgable spills, he could very well add another achievement to his shelf that already has numerous accomplishments.
The Emmys will be held on May 20, 2025, at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in Manhattan. As of now, air time and streaming are unavailable.
