Nick Saban spoke with the media on Saturday following the Crimson Tide's first scrimmage of the fall period and had both positive and negative takeaways from seeing his team in full-speed for the first time.

The coach praised the energy the team started with, but also noted that it was gone by the end of practice.

"We started out today with a lot of energy and as things moved along, we weren’t able to sustain it, and sometimes you’ve got to be able to regain that energy when things are going bad or things get difficult," Saban said.

He also spoke about many of the Tide's current position battles. One of which, wide receiver, is extremely important for the upcoming season.

Saban was asked about the performance of the unit as a whole and while the coach seemed somewhat underwhelmed overall, he pointed out one player in particular who managed to show out.

Saban said, "We were inconsistent at receiver today. We made some really good plays. We dropped some balls," he continued, "I think Kobe Prentice, probably of the young guys, I think he had like five catches. He was probably the guy that stood out the most of the young players."

Prentice was a four-star recruit in the 2022 cycle, and absolutely scorched opposing defenses in his time at Calera High School in Central Alabama. In his last season as an Eagle, the 5-foot-10, 171 lb. speedster finished with over 1,200 receiving yards and hauled in nearly 20 touchdowns.

While he was not one of the marquee names of Alabama's 2022 class, it appears as if the local star is earning his stripes quickly with the Crimson Tide.
