Off-field Honors Abound for Alabama Athletes
The University of Alabama placed 103 student-athletes on the 2023 Fall Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, according to the league office.
The 103 student-athletes was UA’s highest number of fall representatives since 106 student-athletes earned the same honor in 2017.
Alabama had an impressive 50 student-athletes from its 2023 College Football Playoff Semifinal team named to the academic list, including SEC Special Teams Player of the Year Will Reichard and Associated Press First Team All-Americans Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry. Additionally, All-SEC selections Tyler Booker, Chris Braswell, Justin Eboigbe and Jalen Milroe highlighted the Crimson Tide contingent.
Twenty of Alabama’s 22 soccer upperclassmen earned the honor, led by United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America and Angel City FC draftee Felicia Knox. Including Knox, the Tide had six College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees in Bella Scaturro Bright, Marianna Annest, Itala Gemelli and Gianna Paul while Gessica Skora went on to be named a CSC Academic All-American.
A combined 25 members of the Alabama men’s (12) and women’s (13) cross country teams received honor roll recognition, paced by Elka Machan, Lilly Walters and Keaton Morrison who were members of the UA’s women’s NCAA squad.
Kendyl Reaugh, Victoria Schmer and Alyiah Wells paced a group of seven Alabama volleyball players to be named to the conference honor roll.
To earn a place on the honor roll, a student-athlete had to earn a 3.0 or better grade point average for either the preceding academic year or their career and be a sophomore or better in academic standing. The Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on the 2023 spring, summer and fall terms.
