The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team defeated the Troy Trojans 10-2 on Tuesday night in the team’s first game back in Tuscaloosa from a four-game road stretch.

Alabama’s Jacob McNairy earned his fourth win of the season, pitching 4.2 innings, giving up just four hits and one earned run. Hunter Furtado, Aidan Moza, Alton Davis II, and Brayden Gainey each pitched an inning of relief.

The Crimson Tide started the scoring in the second inning thanks to a squeeze bunt from Bryce Eblin and an RBI single from Mac Guscette, each scoring a run.

Tommy Seidl added another run in the third with an RBI single, continuing his hot stretch of play. The senior right fielder was 3-3 on the day with a stolen base, and led the team in batting average during their four-game road stretch.

Scoring exploded for Alabama in the fourth inning, tacking on five runs thanks to a drop in the outfield from Troy, two sac flies, and three other RBI singles.

Much of Alabama’s offense was set up by walking to get on base; three of the eight walks on the day came in the fourth inning.

“It was really good to see us be a little more disciplined tonight,” Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon said postgame. “We didn’t get a bunch of extra base hits, and to score ten runs in eight innings without a bunch of extra base hits you need to do a good job of earning some walks and stuff like that, and we obviously did that tonight.”

Troy added both of its only runs of the night in the fifth and sixth innings from a solo home run and an RBI double, but couldn’t make up for all the lost ground. Alabama added another run of their own in the sixth from a Bryce Eblin pop fly that was dropped, scoring one.

The Tide tacked on one more run in the bottom of the eighth inning to finish things off thanks to a double from Max Williams that scored Drew Williamson from first base.

Alabama moves to 22-8 on the season, and play their next game on Thursday for the start of a three-game series against Mississippi State.
