Orgeron: “I’m Going To Come Up There [Tuscaloosa,] But It’s Not To Eat.”
At the 2021 SEC Media Days in Hoover, Alabama, Tide 100.9's own Ryan Fowler was able to get an exclusive sit-down interview with LSU coach Ed "Coach O" Orgeron.
The main talking point for Bama fans to come from the interview is likely towards the end when Ryan Fowler, host of Tide 100.9's "The Game with Ryan Fowler," was talking about the food from Alabama and LSU's respective home states.
When Fowler offered to show Orgeron around Tuscaloosa's campus and city, the gravel-voiced coach said, "Oh, I'm gonna come up there, but it's not to eat this year."
Earlier in the interview, Fowler asked "Coach O" how he sees the rivalry between LSU and Alabama. Fowler hinted that Alabama's biggest rival, at the moment, may just be the Tigers from Baton Rouge, Louisana. In agreement, Orgeron said, "We understand that. We understand that when you take the job at LSU, your job is to beat Alabama."
When discussing the lackluster 5-5 season after winning a title and rebuilding the LSU program, Orgeron said, "The defense, for the most part, was not up to our standards last year. We gave up way too many points and way too many explosive plays, so we changed that and I think you'll see a much better LSU team this year."
As a head coach, Ed Orgeron has a career record of 61-41 and a perfect 2-0 record in the College Football Playoffs. He holds a prominent 45-14 record in SEC play but has only managed to beat Alabama coach Nick Saban once in their five meetings.
LSU will be on the road when they take on Nick Saban and the TIde on November 6, 2021.
