Photos: Alabama and Florida Went Down To The Wire In “The Swamp”
The Alabama Crimson Tide went on the road to Gainesville and took down the Florida Gators 31-29 in the SEC opener for both schools. The Crimson Tide jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the contest but were unable to put the final nail in the coffin and take Gators out of the contest.
Alabama overcame a raucous atmosphere in Bryce Young's first road start. Penalties and an inability to run the football slowed the Alabama offense down but the Tide still prevailed. Alabama's defense struggled to stop the Florida run, allowing over 200 yards rushing on the ground but junior Jalyn Armour-Davis did come away with his first career INT.
Alabama's Will Anderson was less than 100% in the ballgame but still was able to stand out. The sophomore was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his strong effort.
The Crimson Tide was able to escape "The Swamp" with a 31-29 win thanks to Drew Sanders securing a stop on a two-point conversion.
