Projected OL Starter Enters Portal
The college football transfer portal can give, but it also takes away. The Alabama Crimson Tide had their first scholarship player enter the transfer portal on Tuesday, and although the portal has not been very active for Alabama, at least not yet, it only takes one move to get fans talking.
Alabama has had another scholarship player enter the portal, and this one stings a little more than Khurtiss Perry. According to On3 Sports, Alabama offensive lineman James Brockermeyer is entering the portal as a grad transfer. He also has a no-contact tag attached to his portal entry.
Brockermeyer was working with the first team all spring due to the strange absence of Parker Brailsford from Alabama's practice. After A-Day, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer mentioned that Brailsford's absence was not transfer-related. Brockermeyer was the starter with Alabama's first-team offense during the annual A-Day scrimmage.
Alabama must feel better about Brailsford's return to the team if Brockermeyer is entering the transfer portal. If Brailsford does return, it softens the blow of Brockermeyer entering the portal. If not, Alabama suddenly becomes incredibly thin along the interior offensive line, with true freshman Joseph Ionata as the projected starter.
Tide 100.9 is keeping a roster tracker of players entering the transfer portal for Alabama. You can keep track of the roster here.
