The University of Tennessee might have hit Rocky Bottom on Friday when the school decided to fire athletic director John Currie.

ESPN reports that the Volunteers made the decision after a meeting between school officials. Currie, who has only been in the position eight months, had been leading a head-shaking coaching search. He most recently visited with Washington State head coach Mike Leach on Thursday on the west coast even though officials told him not to broker a deal with Leach.

Adding more madness to the story, Brett McMurphy reports that former Vols head coach Phillip Fulmer has been sabotaging the process.

So it doesn't appear that the Vols are any closer to getting a head coach than they were a few weeks ago when they decided to fire Butch Jones. The rest of college football will continue to enjoy the drama while Tennessee goes back to the drawing board.
