Reports on Sunday indicated that Alabama wide receiver Rico Scott was expected to enter the transfer portal, leaving the Crimson Tide with just five wide receivers on the roster for the 2026 season.

Now, 24 hours later, Bama 247 reports that Scott is no longer expected to enter the portal for the Crimson Tide. The former four-star receiver is expected to return to the program. He was the fifth wide receiver to enter the transfer portal from the Crimson Tide, joining Cole Adams, Jalen Hale, Jaylen Mbakwe, and Aeryn Hampton.

Scott played in four games as a freshman in 2024, catching five passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. In 2025, he caught 11 passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns for the Crimson Tide.

If Horton does return, Alabama would have six receivers for the 2026 season with the re-addition of Rico Scott. Alabama lost wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard to Oregon State, with Shephard accepting their head coaching job. The Tide replaced Shephard with former Auburn offensive coordinator Derrick Nix as Alabama's receivers coach.

Here is every player who has entered the portal from Alabama:

LB Qua Russaw
DB Cam Calhoun
DE Keon Keeley
WR Cole Adams
WR Aeryn Hampton
WR Jalen Hale
WR Jaylen Mbakwe
RB Richard Young
LB Noah Carter
OL Roq Montgomery
OL Joseph Ionata
OL Olaus Alinen
OL Micah DeBose
OL Wilkin Formby
DB Kameron Howard

The transfer portal opened on Friday, January 2, and will remain open for 15 days, until January 16.
