The Crimson Tide ended the regular season as a top-ten team, securing a two-seed in the NCAA tournament, beginning on Friday. They were led for the second consecutive season by Mark Sears, a senior guard from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Grant Nelson, a senior forward from Devil's Lake, North Dakota.

Sears and Nelson were the leading scorers for the Crimson Tide this season, with Sears averaging 18.7 points per game and Nelson averaging 11.8 points per game. Nelson also leads the team in rebounds with 7.6 per game and Sears leads with assists with 4.9 per game.

Sears and Nelson played extremely well for Alabama this season, earning recognition for their efforts. Mark Sears was named First Team All-District in the Southeast Region by the NABC All-District teams, and Nelson was named Second-Team All-District for the Southeast Region.

Sears is a semifinalist for the Naismith Player of the Year and is the only player in the SEC to rank in the top three in scoring (18.7 points per game) and second in assists (4.9 assists per game).

Sears has won 80 games in his Alabama career and is third on Alabama's all-time scoring list with 1,876 points.

Grant Nelson has posted seven double-doubles this season for the Crimson Tide and is 11 rebounds away from 1,000 career rebounds. His season-high in points was on January 18 against Kentucky (25).

This is the second time Sears has been named to the NABC First-Team All-District Team.
