SEC Weekly Standings – Week 7
It was a wild week in college football, with three top-10 SEC teams going down on October 5. Here's what the SEC Standings look like heading into week 7.
1 - Texas A&M Aggies (5-1, 3-0)
The fighting Aggies staked their claim as an SEC contender, trouncing then-top-10 Missouri 41-10. The Aggies have a couple of tough games left on their schedule, with games against LSU and Texas, but the Aggies have a bye this weekend before hitting the road to Mississippi State next weekend.
2 - LSU Tigers (4-1, 1-0)
LSU got a week off from the action last weekend, but the return to action is going to throw the Tigers right back into the fire, hosting Ole Miss this weekend, Oct. 12.
3 - Texas Longhorns (5-0, 1-0)
Texas also had a week off to recoup and rest before the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma on Oct. 12. The Longhorns hope to get starting quarterback Quinn Ewers back for the Rivalry game with the Sooners.
4 - Arkansas Razorbacks (4-2, 2-1)
The Razorbacks pulled off a major upset over the Volunteers, which helped lessen the blow for Alabama fans after losing to Vanderbilt. Arkansas hosted Tennessee, and defeated the then-top-five Volunteers, 19-14. The Razorbacks will get a bye week before a rivalry with the LSU Tigers on Oct. 19.
5 - Georgia Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1)
Georgia rebounded well following a loss to Alabama, defeating the Auburn Tigers 31-13 at home. Georgia has a more lax game this weekend against Mississippi State as a warm-up to a primetime matchup with the Texas Longhorns in Austin, Texas on Oct. 19.
6 - Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1, 1-1)
The Crimson Tide were shocked by Vanderbilt on the road, losing to the Commodores 40-35 in Nashville, Tennessee. Alabama will look to rebound and throttle South Carolina this weekend before a mid-afternoon date with Tennessee on Oct. 19 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
7 - Florida Gators (3-2, 1-1)
Florida earned a good win at home over the UCF Golden Knights, 24-13 at home. The Gators' remaining schedule is BRUTAL, with five more ranked games left on the schedule, a rivalry with Florida State, and Kentucky. The gauntlet begins this weekend with a road trip to No. 8 Tennessee.
8 - Ole Miss Rebels (5-1, 1-1)
The Rebels rebounded after a bad loss to Kentucky with a good road win over South Carolina, defeating the Gamecocks 27-3. Ole Miss is slated to play its seventh straight game against the LSU Tigers this weekend.
9 - Missouri Tigers (4-1, 1-1)
The Tigers were blown out on the road in College Station, losing to the Texas A&M Aggies 41-10. Missouri will look to rebound in a strange road game at UMass on Oct. 12 before returning to SEC play against Auburn.
10 - Oklahoma Sooners (4-1, 1-1)
The Oklahoma Sooners had a bye week last weekend ahead of a superstar rivalry with the Texas Longhorns. The Red River Rivalry will take place in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 12.
11 - Tennessee Volunteers (4-1, 1-1)
The Volunteers were stunned on Saturday by the Razorbacks, 19-14. Tennessee will host Florida this weekend, hoping to right the ship before an Oct. 19 date with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
12 - Vanderbilt Commodores (3-2, 1-1)
The Commodores fought and stunned the top-ranked Crimson Tide in a 40-35 upset in Nashville, Tennessee. Vanderbilt will need new goalposts following the victory. They'll have an extra week to repair the home stadium, with a road trip to Lexington, Kentucky for a game with the Wildcats this weekend.
13 - Kentucky Wildcats (3-2, 1-2)
Kentucky enjoyed an extra week to celebrate a win over then-top-10 Ole Miss two weeks ago. Now, the Wildcats have a tougher-than-expected game, welcoming the Vanderbilt Commodores to Lexington on Saturday, Oct. 12.
14 - South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2, 1-2)
South Carolina suffered a tough loss to Ole Miss, with the Gamecocks losing to the Rebels 27-3 at home. South Carolina will face an angry Alabama team in Tuscaloosa this Saturday as they try to rebound from the loss.
15 - Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-4, 0-2)
Mississippi State had a bye week to regroup and try to salvage the season. The Bulldogs will have a tough time righting the ship this weekend, heading to Athens, Georgia to take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Oct. 12.
16 - Auburn Tigers (2-4, 0-3)
The Tigers were on the wrong end of a "get-right" game for Georgia, losing to the Bulldogs 31-13 in Athens. Auburn has a bye week to figure things out, then will gear back up for SEC play with a road trip to Columbia, Missouri for a date with those Tigers on Oct. 19.
If the season ended today, the SEC Championship would be played between the Texas A&M Aggies and the LSU Tigers in Atlanta, Georgia.
