Second Former Clemson Tiger Makes Racial Accusation

Clemson Football Coach Dabo Swinney is once again under fire, this time from a former player accusing him of using a racial slur in the locker room in reference to music that was being played. According to former running back, Haamid Williams, Swinney was giving a locker room tour to a prospective coach and thought the music made a poor representation of his program.

Williams, outlined the story from his perspective on his personal Twitter account. He also acknowledges that his perspective will likely be put down due to his poor production on the field for the Tigers. According to sports-reference.com, Willams had three carries for three yards in his career.

According to @TigerCommenter on Twitter, another former Tiger, tight end Brandon Ford says that Williams did not remember the story correctly. Ford said Swinney did address the language of the music in the locker room, but did not use the "n-word" while addressing the issue.

The Clemson program has taken heat this week after Kanyon Tuttle alleged earlier in the week that Swinney allowed assistant coach Danny Pearman to say a racial slur on the practice field without repercussion. Pearman addressed the accusation in a statement and explained that his usage was inappropriate, but he was coaching his players to not use the racial slur.

D.J. Greenlee, the linebacker involved in the Pearman incident released his own statement on the issue to The State, a Columbia publication.

The subject of racial injustice and police brutality is on the forefront of the nation's mind and hearts this week in the wake of the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.

Many football teams have been actively protesting and making their voices heard, from the University of Missouri, the University of Kentucky and even pro teams like the Denver Broncos.

Many protesters have worn shirts reading, "Black Lives Matter," showing solidarity with one another and unity in the cause of fighting for racial equality. Swinney was seen over the weekend in a shirt representing something else.

Swinney received backlash over his choice of shirt and the timing considering the climate of the country. Swinney's popular and talented quarterback, Trevor Lawrence took to social media to defend his coach's wardrobe.
