The Buccaneers fell 62-53 to NW Florida State in the NJCAA National Championship game.

Shelton State trailed by as much as 12 points late in the fourth quarter but was able to cut the lead down to just three points with 90 seconds left in the contest. Unfortunately for the Bucs, they missed three shots after NW Florida built back a five-point lead.

Lameria Thomas shined in her final game as a Shelton State Buccaneer, collecting 16 rebounds and scoring 12 points despite the loss. The Montgomery native shot 6-13 from the floor in her final game as a Bucaneer.

As a junior college, Shelton State only gets athletes for two seasons before players can transfer to a four-year program, resulting in Thomas exhausting her eligibility at Shelton State.

Freshman star Alana Obianozie led the way in scoring with 15 points while collecting eight rebounds and contributing four assists in the loss. Freshman Janiyah Bone had nine points and five rebounds.
