Starting DB Enters Portal, Visiting Bama
The Alabama Crimson Tide have been hunting for defensive backs in the transfer portal after losing Kool-Aid McKinstry, Terrion Arnold, and Jaylen Key to the NFL, and Caleb Downs, Trey Amos, Dezz Ricks, Kristian Story, Antonio Kite, Kristian Story, and Jake Pope to the transfer portal.
The Tide have been linked to multiple defensive backs in the transfer portal after the Tide's A-Day scrimmage, but have yet to capitalize on the portal madness in the defensive backfield. Alabama has been able to land a starting caliber player in the portal, with Miami of Ohio kicker Graham Nicholson committing to Alabama late on Sunday night.
Another starter has entered the portal, and reports indicate Alabama is moving quickly on the front. Two-year Arizona State starting cornerback Ed Woods has entered the transfer portal per Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. Alabama is expected to be in the mix for him.
Woods was a two-year starter at Arizona State, spending four years at the university. During his career Woods totaled 66 tackles, 10 passes defended, one sack, three forced fumbles, and one pick.
The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect was linked to Alabama as soon. as he entered the portal, with On3's Tim Watts reporting he had "Alabama on his mind."
247 Sports' Brett Greenberg corroborated the report, saying Woods is expected to visit Alabama on Friday and will be on campus through Sunday.
The Tide needs help in that room, and barring anything unforeseen, good news for Alabama's defensive back depth could be coming soon.
Tide 100.9 will continue to monitor Woods and his impending decision. Woods has the skillset to arrive in Tuscaloosa and compete for playing time early.
