Stillman baseball right-handed pitcher Steven Oates has been chosen to join the HBCU All-Star Game this weekend.

"Oates, a pitcher from Mobile, Alabama, is the second Stillman College player to be selected to the game, joining Kelvin Reese, who played in the 2021 and 2022 All-Star games. Reese was also invited to participate as a 2023 All-Star but will not participate in the game due to injury," said the official press release.

According to Baseball Reference, Oates pitched 51.2 innings in 12 starts last season, recording 57 hits, 59 runs, 46 earned runs, four home runs, 44 walks, and 54 strikeouts. He had a 2-7 record and a 8.01 earned run average this year.

"This was a goal I set for myself before the season started. I look forward to the camaraderie of all the players that work hard and put in the effort it takes to get an honor like this one. I'm just blessed to be in the position," said Oates in the official press release.

The 2023 HBCU All-Star Game will be on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 6:15 p.m. CT. The game will be live-streamed on GameChanger.
