TA Extends Wright’s Contract
The Wright Brothers know a thing or two about flying.
Not THOSE Wright brothers who invented the airplane. I'm talking Josh and Jody Wright, brothers who are in the coaching profession.
First, Murray State hired Jody away from an assistant's role at South Carolina to be the Racers' head coach. Then, Friday Tuscaloosa Academy extended Josh Wright's contract.
Here's a portion of the release provided to TownSquare Media by Tuscaloosa Academy Head of School Beckie Share:
"Tuscaloosa Academy is thrilled to announce the contract extension of Varsity Football Coach Josh Wright for an additional five years. Coach Wright, a respected figure in the Tuscaloosa Academy community, has demonstrated exceptional coaching ability with an unwavering dedication to the team and the TA community.
"Over the course of his 16-year coaching career, Coach Wright has become a cornerstone of the Tuscaloosa Academy football program, earning a remarkable record of 158-48. His commitment to excellence has produced outstanding results on the field and fostered a positive and supportive environment for student-athletes to thrive.
"'Coaching at Tuscaloosa Academy has been an incredible experience, and I am honored to continue leading this exceptional group of young athletes," said Wright. "I am grateful for the trust and support of the school, parents, and the entire community. Together, we will continue to aim for success on and off the field.'
"The Wright family’s dedication to football came from Coach Wright’s late father, Lynn Wright, a Hall of Fame coach in the State of Alabama with a record of 209-75. Following in his father’s footsteps, Coach Wright began his coaching career in 2008. Since joining Tuscaloosa Academy three years ago, he has elevated the football program to new heights, leaving a lasting mark on the school and its athletes.
"'Coach Wright's impact on Tuscaloosa Academy goes beyond the wins and losses. He has become a vital part of our school community, instilling values of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship in our student-athletes,' said Beckie Share, Head of School. 'We are thrilled to extend Coach Wright's contract and look forward to witnessing our football program's continued growth and success under his leadership.'
"In addition to celebrating Coach Wright's contract extension, the school recently commemorated his 150th win during a home game in the past season. This milestone reflects not only his coaching success but also the football program's consistent dedication and hard work.
"'Coach Wright's achievements speak volumes about his coaching abilities and the positive culture he has cultivated within the Tuscaloosa Academy football program,' stated Byron Abston, Athletic Director. 'We are confident that our student-athletes will continue to excel on and off the field under his leadership.'
"Throughout his renowned career, Coach Wright's teams have secured an impressive ten regional championships and made ten appearances in the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) state championships. Among these accomplishments, they clinched victory in four state title games. Tuscaloosa Academy is excited about the future of its football program under Coach Josh Wright's continued guidance.
"The contract extension reflects the school's commitment to sustaining athletic excellence and fostering a positive and enriching experience for its student-athletes."
