Taco Casa Rated No. 1 Best Mexican Restaurant in Tuscaloosa
While the competition was stiff, the famous Taco Casa has been rated the number one Mexican restaurant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the 2022 calendar year.
According to the Big Game Boomer Podcast, the restaurant received the honor.
Taco Casa in a tweet responded to the rankings "Let's go! Taco Casa T-Town getting a shoutout as best Mexican restaurant in Tuscaloosa. Roll Tide!"
Former Alabama football player, Rod Wilkins, served as an official at local high school games in hopes of earning enough money to open his first restaurant. His dream came to fruition on August 20, 1974, when the doors of Taco Casa opened.
Taco Casa is known for it delicious tacos, beefy burritos, and homemade tea. The quality of the food Wilkins and his family has made over the years, placed them at the forefront and earned them the title of best restaurant in Tuscaloosa.
Other Southeastern Conference schools' restaurants made the list as well. University of Arkansas' "El Matador" was on the list, in Fayetteville, and in-state rival, Auburn's "Agave Loco" made the roster. The PAC 12 representative Arizona's "El Torero" and Arizona State's "Casa Reynoso" were notable restaurants as well.
Despite the recognition of the other restaurants, Taco Casa is in a class of its own. It has been around for 46 years and is still at its peak.
