Tagovailoa took a third-down play up the middle of the field himself, taking a head-first hit by Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Tagovailoa has already been ruled out with a concussion.

The broadcast announced it took just six minutes for the Dolphins' medical staff to diagnose Tagovailoa with a concussion.

With the official diagnosis by the Dolphins' medical staff, this makes the third confirmed concussion Tagovailoa has suffered in his NFL career, and the first since December 2022, when he suffered his suspected third concussion of the season.

It makes the eighth injury Tagovailoa has suffered in his NFL career.

In July 2024, Tagovailoa signed a four-year contract worth $212.4 million, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

It was well deserved, with Tagovailoa completing 69.3% of his passes for 4,624 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2023. It was widely considered the best season of Tagovailoa's young career.

Miami drafted Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. He took over as the starting quarterback during the bye week that season for Miami, replacing career journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick as the Dolphins' lead signal caller.
