Kickoff is just 31 days away, so let's look at a former Crimson Tide defender who has made quite a name for himself after football in the coaching world, Sam Shade.

Birmingham native, Sam Shade, has been named Miles College new head coach after replacing Bo Nix’s father Patrick Nix at Pinson Valley. Shade was a defensive back at Alabama and continued on to play for the Cincinnati Bengals as well as Washington in the NFL.

In a battle of defense, Pinson Valley (12-2) walked away victorious. The Indians defeated Spanish Fort (11-4) 23-13 to win the 6A State Title. This third state championship continues an impressive run for Pinson Valley during the 2010s. The Indians also won the legendary “blue map” in 2017 and 2018, which means this is the team’s third title in four years.
