In-State Five-Star EDGE Names Alabama a Finalist

The Crimson Tide continues to pour it on on the recruiting trail, with Alabama being named a finalist for one of the top players in the state of Alabama.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, five-star edge rusher Anthony "Tank" Jones has whittled his list of schools down to three, with Alabama, Oregon, and Texas A&M being named the finalists.

Tank Jones, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound edge rusher from St. Paul's Episcopal School in Mobile, Alabama, is ranked as the No. 20 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, the No. 3 edge rusher, and the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama.

As a junior in 2024, Jones recorded 84 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks for the Saints. During his freshman season in 2022, Jones exploded onto the scene with 130 tackles, 15 sacks, two picks, and one pick-six. In his scouting report, 247 Sports called him a "physically imposing pass rusher in possession of a high-octane motor."

Jones has visited Alabama multiple times during his recruitment, with On3 Sports listing 10 visits that Jones has taken to Alabama. The latest visit may have been the most impactful, with Jones finishing his summer official visit schedule with a visit to the Capstone on June 20. He also took official visits to Auburn, Miami, Texas A&M, and Oregon, by the Tigers and the Hurricanes have been cut out of his top list of schools. He had visited Auburn nine times.

Alabama has a strong recruiting duo pursuing Jones, with outside linebackers coach Christian Robinson and defensive coordinator Kane Wommack leading the charge for him. Jones sits only behind Alabama commit Cederian Morgan in the rankings for the state of Alabama.
