The Tennessee Volunteers beat the Alabama Crimson Tide 5-1 in Knoxville, Tenn., on Friday evening.

Montana Fouts started in the circle for the Crimson Tide. The ace pitched the entire game, recording seven hits, five runs, five earned runs, one walk, and six strikeouts.

Tennessee got on the board first, scoring two runs in the third inning. The first came from a sacrifice fly by second baseman Lair Beautae and the second came from a single by third baseman Zaida Puni.

The Volunteers put two more runs on the board in the fifth inning with a two-run home run by Beautae.

Tennessee tacked on one more run in the sixth inning with a home run by first baseman McKenna Gibson.

The Tide got on the board in the seventh inning on a home run by designated player Bailey Dowling to avoid the shutout, however could not execute a comeback.

Alabama's hitting struggles continued, only recording three team hits, while the Volunteers recorded seven.

The Tide falls to 23-9 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
